Great Online Dating Profile Pictures
The first question I get when someone asks me to help them out with their profile is how much their online dating profile pictures matter.
A lot.
It’s not like your online dating pictures are going to make or break you if you’re willing to write messages to women first… but if you don’t have good pictures up, the number of women who initiate contact with you is going to level off at around zero.
So that means you have to do the work of searching for the girl and writing a first message if your pictures don’t get the girl to read your profile.
Personally, I’m lazy…
Yeah, I admit it. But it’s not like laziness is necessarily a bad thing. Think about it, if there weren’t lazy guys like me out there we wouldn’t even have the wheel. People would still be happy carrying things around instead of putting them in carts or wheelbarrows. It’s us lazy people who come up with easier ways to do things.
Anyway, I don’t like having to do a search for someone in my area and then copying and pasting an email to her. Yes, I know that makes me REALLY lazy, but why do it if you don’t have to?
All you gotta do is have decent pictures up… the girl will read your online dating profile and get hooked.
I’ve written several articles on what pictures you should post, you can find them here. Many of you probably already have my book on writing online dating profiles including how to write emails so that women give you their phone number in 2 messages and what to do if you (for some God-awful reason) have to initiate contact. If not, get over to this page and buy Magnetic Profiles right now.
But today I want to talk about a few ways you can improve on the pictures you have up…
First of all, they need to be in focus. That means you have to get a decent camera to take them with. Cell phones have great cameras in them, but for the most part you’re better off with a decent digital camera.
In general I like Fuji because of the color balance and rich saturation, but it really doesn’t make that much difference.
What you DON’T want is to post a picture of yourself in the bathroom mirror holding your camera phone. Please…
Second, post pictures that are in focus. Any new camera will do that automatically. Point and shoot. Duh.
So… here’s the real problem for most of us. we don’t have anyone to take the picture.
Well, I have a really easy solution to that.
You take your camera with you WHEREVER you go and ask someone (preferably a girl you want to meet anyway) to take a picture of you.
Here’s what you’re going to say: “Hi.” Pause while she acknowledges you. “Can you do me a favor?” Pause slightly. I need a picture of me here to prove that I was actually here and I lost my buddy. Can you take a quick picture of me?”
That’s it. I have been doing this for years and EVERY SINGLE time the person has been HAPPY to take a picture for me. Every time. People like to help other people out. We enjoy it. It’s just the way humans are built.
So allow someone to feel good about helping you out, and get a bunch of pictures in the process.
Another way to get good online dating profile pictures… safer and less fun… is to go on Craigslist and look for a student who needs portraits for their portfolio. They’ll take a million pictures and if you take a USB stick with you, they can give you the pictures right there.
You can also have your buddies take pictures of you. You could have them just come over and take a bunch of pictures of you… but that might be a bit embarrassing. So just bring your camera long with you whenever and where ever you go somewhere and have your friend take pictures of you, and take pictures together.
Yep, these things might be a little uncomfortable at first. But, once you have good online dating profile pictures up, your life will be A LOT easier.
