Cocky funny–again

I’m gonna beat this cocky funny thing to death eventually, but I really want to hammer a couple things home over the next couple of posts. It’s been bugging me lately.

Here’s the thing. Humor doesn’t make you attractive to a woman. Getting her to laugh at you doesn’t make the woman attracted to you.

I know– I can already hear it… “JT, WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!?”

Take it easy…please don’t yell… I’ll explain…

Every piece of online dating advice, every woman we’ve ever met, and every girlfriend we’ve had has said that women find a sense of humor attractive.

Well, I’m going to let you in on a little secret…

She doesn’t find your sense of humor attractive in itself. She laughs at your jokes because she’s already attracted to you.

I’ll say that one more time so it sinks in. She doesn’t laugh at you and then become attracted to you. She’s attracted to you, and that’s why she laughs.

Laughter is the effect, not the cause.

Haven’t you ever seen some random guy talking about the stupidest, most boring, inane nonsense and the woman he is with is laughing and giggling away like a little schoolgirl?

The girl will probably tell you that he has a “great sense of humor”. But we both know that this guy is NOT funny.

She’s laughing because she’s already attracted to him.

I have friends who are funny…super funny. Girls always say how much fun they are to be around, but take a guess at where these guys end up? Yep, smack dab in the middle of the friend zone.

And then there are guys like me—who aren’t really very funny, not known for a sense of humor, and don’t tell cocky stories. And we date almost any woman we choose.

Think about the guys YOU know who do really well with women.

Seriously, think about them.

You’ll see that those guys are not funny. Yes, women laugh at (or with) them, but it’s not because he has a great sense of humor, it’s because the girls already find him attractive.

So, if we really don’t have to be cocky and funny to get women, if we don’t have to use cocky and funny lines, and we don’t have to have a bunch of memorized cocky funny sayings… why does everyone think it works?
